Ding dong...

Castro's out.. Is there hope for Cuba now that the dictator has stepped down? It's too early to tell, as Castro's aging brother is in charge (and basically has been since last year). Let's hope for the best. What do you think? Post your comment here.

Time will tell, but since, as you point out, Raul has been, in effect, running the country for the past year and change, I'm not anticipating any change anytime soon.

I remember in high school the AP American History teacher (name escapes me for some reason) telling us about how life in Cuba was all about waiting for Castro to die and it would all get better. It's a nice idea. He also touted that our country was in the longest streak of prosperity ever, and there was no end in sight to the economic growth, so I took everything he said with a grain of salt ;)
