Dear America,
You're in deep debt. When in debt, it is a time to make sacrifices and stick to the essentials. That means if you're going to party, party small. Small parties can still raise spirits. If you've got money burning a hole in your pocket, maybe you should spread the wealth to those who can't afford to make the choice to party hard or to party modestly. Just a thought, since everyone's being told they should do with less in order to help those with less. 4 legs good, two legs bad. No wait... four legs bad, two legs good...No...
Sincerely,
Samantha

I'm thoroughly confused
Either Samantha was a wee bit too subtle or you didn't read Animal Farm in high school ;-)
We're in an economic crisis, yet we're having the most expensive inauguration ever. Couldn't those donations gone to a better cause?
Ah, see now I have something to go on here. Are you referring to the AP estimate of $160 million for the total cost of Obama's inauguration and comparing it to the $42 million that actually ballons to $157 million when all the same costs from the AP estimate are included?
Aren't we in a recession now? Isn't the point to try to make do with less? How is an extravaganza setting a good example? It comes off as a "Do as a I say, not as I do."
Well, what he's doing is spending the money he has. Sort of like the American consumer needs to continue doing if we want to keep this recession from getting worse.
